On 5 August 2023, Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff), a member of MMC Group, held its yearly futsal tournament with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (NRECC), the Energy Commission (ST), and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Single Buyer & Grid System Operator (GSO) as part of its continuous engagement to further enhance good working relationship with its stakeholders. The event was held at the FutsalHub in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur and was attended by 80 participants.
Commenced at approximately 9:30 am, both women's and men's games took off with enthused energy coupled with a streak of strikes performed by all participating teams. Not long before the first round between Malakoff's men's team and the ST team ended, two inaugural goals were scored by Malakoff giving them a starting lead of 2-0, while the vigorous efforts from the women's team were squandered when ST hit the first goal. Alas, with the deafening cheers and support from the crowd, the women's team rose by strengthening their defense, disallowing any potential strike from the opposing team.
The games finally concluded with the men's team from Malakoff taking the reign in this tournament as they emerged as champion with the highest score against the teams from GSO, TNB Single Buyer, ST and the NRECC. As for the women's game, the ST team claimed victory and while the Malakoff team finished second, the dedication and commitment displayed by the team was nothing short of amazing. Congratulations to both men's and women's teams from Malakoff.
The event then proceeded with a prize giving ceremony by Norafinaz Khairuddin, Assistant Vice President of the Local Generation Division and Md Yuha Ismail, Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs.
This initiative is part of Malakoff's continuous engagement with its key stakeholders through activities that can further cultivate the spirit of 'silaturrahim' while enhancing our working relationship towards fulfilling shared goals and objectives. It is also in line with our commitment towards the UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 17 which encourages stronger partnerships that will contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development.
