On 7 September 2023, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, hosted the Program Semarak Gemilang 2023 in conjunction with the 2023 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations. The programme, co-organised with the Selangor Department of Information Services, took place at Wharf 8A Northport.
Program Semarak Gemilang 2023 is one of the Government's initiatives to foster a sense of unity and strengthen the love towards the nation by flying the Jalur Gemilang with the involvement and collaboration with various government and private organisations.
A total of 100 Northport employees led by its Chief Executive Officer, Dato' Azman Shah Mohd Yusof were present during the event. Also present was Normaizatulakmal Tujad, Director of the Selangor Department of Information Services.
The event at Northport was one of three Program Semarak Gemilang 2023 events organised by the Selangor Department of Information Services. Northport was chosen as the event's venue for this year's programme due to the company's concurrent celebration of the 60th anniversary of port operations at North Port and the 50th anniversary of containerization in Port Klang this year.
Prior to this, a similar programme was organised at Shah Alam Hospital on 26 June 2023. Meanwhile, the final location will feature a traditional village concept which will be held in Kampung Setia, Kuang, Gombak on 16 September 2023.
