On 4 September 2023, the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) and the Johor State Government hosted the Johor MyMudah Conference 2023 under the theme "Maju Johor, Johor Produktif". The objective is to enhance productivity and competitiveness of Johor. The 500 participants include officials from the state government, local authorities and private sector from various industries.
Gan Seng Keong, Chief Executive Officer of Senai Airport City, was invited as the only panelist from the private sector, to share Senai Airport City's experience in collaborating with Majlis Perbandaran Kulai (MPKU) in the formation of Kulai Fast Lane (KFL) since pandemic period.
The Kulai Fast Lane (KFL) initiative is a public-private partnership, to fast track the development approval process from 24 months to 13 months, to accommodate investors' development and operational timeline. This public-private initiative began with Senai Airport City's endeavours to facilitate Senai Airport City's Foreign Direct Investors (FDI) and Domestic Direct Investors (DDI) who require a shorter development period. The continuous cooperation between Senai Airport City and MPKU is a "win-win" for all stakeholders and eventually Kulai Fast Lane (KFL) was officially launched in May 2022.
To-date, Kulai Fast Lane (KFL) has been successfully implemented to fourteen (14) investors, of which eleven (11) investors are from Senai Airport City, namely Mercedes-Benz, Wiwynn Technology Service (Malaysia), Dyson's supply chain and the most recent investor for 100 acres to a multinational corporation (MNC) listed on NASDAQ, whom are the market leaders in their respective industries.
With the success of KFL, the Johor State Government replicated the model to all sixteen (16) Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan (PBT) in Johor and expanded this initiative known as Johor Fast Lane (JFL) to enhance the productivity and competitiveness in Johor.
The launch of Johor Fast Lane (JFL) was officiated by the Menteri Besar of Johor, YAB Datuk Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi; YB Tan Sri Dato' Dr Haji Azmi Rohani, State Secretary of Johor; YBhg Datuk Kamaruzzaman Johari, Chairman of MPC; YB Lee Ting Han, Chairman of the Investment, Trade, and Consumer Affairs Committee of Johor and other distinguished leaders of the Johor State Government.
