In a significant move to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical industry experience, the Commercial Division of Senai International Airport hosted a series of industrial visits in June 2024. The visits aimed to provide students and lecturers from various universities with an in-depth understanding of the operations, challenges, and opportunities within one of the leading industries, air transportation, and logistics. These visits were part of the airport's ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and fostering future talent.
The visits held throughout June, took place on four separate days; each day saw a different group of students and lecturers exploring the facilities, gaining insights into the company's operations, and learning about potential career paths in the industry.
On 5 June 2024, Senai International Airport in collaboration with Johor Port Skills Centre of Johor Port Berhad welcomed 37 enthusiastic students and lecturers from the Faculty of Technology Management & Business of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). Noor Safura Suib, the General Manager of the Commercial Division, delivered an engaging career talk that highlighted the various roles within Senai International Airport and the skills needed to excel in the logistics and cargo handling sectors. Subsequently, on 6 June, Senai International Airport opened its doors to 30 students and a lecturer from the Faculty of Business Management of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Segamat. This visit was particularly tailored to students with a business and management focus. Noor Safura's career talk resonated deeply with the business students, as she shared insights on leadership, management strategies and the dynamic nature of the commercial division at Senai International Airport.
On 13 June, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technology from UTHM made their visit, bringing along 31 students and lecturers. This visit was hosted by both Facilities & Management Department (FMD) as well as Cargo & Ground Handling team for the students who are interested in the technical and engineering aspects of Senai International Airport’s operations.
The industrial visits hosted by Senai International Airport concluded on 21 June, where the airport team welcomed 32 students and two accompanying lecturers of UNIKL. Although located near KLIA and Subang Skypark, the lecturers and students of Aviation Marketing major chose to visit Senai International Airport for its ability to manage its operation privately.
We hope that the sharing sessions as well as industrial visits will spark great ideas and reinforce the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in building a skilled and knowledgeable workforce for the future.
