Gas Malaysia Committed Towards Green Gas Project

PREVIOUS NEWS NEXT NEWS

On 3 February 2023, Gas Malaysia Berhad Group of Companies organised a symbolic event at Coronation Palm Oil Mill, Kluang, Johor to witness the injection of biomethane, sourced from Palm Oil Mill Effluent, into the Natural Gas Distribution System network.

The event was graced with the presence of several members from Gas Malaysia’s management team. The supply of biomethane from the Coronation Palm Oil Mill is expected to contribute a volume of 200,000 MMBtu per annum. With that volume, the plant may avoid the release of methane, which is equivalent to about 79,000 tonne of carbon dioxide.

Biomethane is a renewable and sustainable gas (Green Gas), considering that it is sourced from the palm oil mill effluent, a by-product of palm oil processing mills.  Renewable energy’s prominence is expected to grow in the future due to heightened concerns regarding climate change, coupled with an increasing demand for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations in any organisation.

Gas Malaysia remains committed in accelerating growth and advancing its focus on renewable energy.
