The Construction of Langat CSTP and the Connection of Sewerage Pipes in the Langat River Catchment Area by Design & Build is one of the projects under the initiative of Greater KL, River of Life Programme: Sewerage Non-River. This plant incorporated Deep Aeration treatment technology with Step-Feed Multi Stage De-Nitrification Process from Japan.

Located in Kampung Sungai Balak, Kajang, the plant is also equipped with sports and recreation facilities known as Langat Eco Park which was built on top of the sewage plant. Among the facilities for the local community to enjoy are, 16 badminton courts, two sepak takraw courts, two basketball courts, two futsal courts, children's playground and a community hall that can accommodate 200 seats at one time.

This project has been implemented by the Sewerage Services Department with MMC Pembetungan Langat Sdn Bhd as the main contractor. With the completion of this mega project, it is expected that the operation and maintenance costs of sewerage operators can be reduced with the decommissioning and demolishment of small sewage treatment plants. It will also reduce the potential for river pollution and ensure the sustainability of water resources.
