Hello and welcome to the first quarter edition of The Hub 2023
It has been a productive first quarter of 2023 across the Group with 40 activities that have been carried out. However, it is just the beginning, and we believe all colleagues of MMC Group are looking forward to more exciting updates in 2023. Let us share with you the highlights of activities across the Group for the last three months.
With the revival of tourism in our country, Senai International Airport recently welcomed international flights from Guangzhou via AirAsia. As a Southern gateway to Malaysia, Senai International Airport looks forward in welcoming visitors to enjoy the variety of attractions to Johor specifically and Malaysia as a whole.
Last January, just in time for Chinese New Years celebration and soon Hari Raya Aidilfitri, a 7.5 km Sungai Pulai Bridge was opened to the public in an event that was graced by YAB Menteri Besar of Johor. The new bridge will significantly reduce travel time to just 30 minutes from the current land route, which normally takes around an hour. This will improve the connectivity of the two districts, which will result in a strong economic multiplier effect for the surrounding areas, especially in Gelang Patah and Pontian.
We also witnessed the completion of most awaited infrastructure project, the KVMRT Putrajaya Line, when it was officially opened to the public on 16 March 2023. In anticipation to reach 1.2 million daily ridership in 2023, it is hoped that this new public transport facility will reduce the traffic congestion in Klang Valley.
Moreover, it is good to share that as part of MMC Group’s stakeholder engagement session, various media engagements were conducted by MMC Group and its members. A series of media familiarisation visits from local as well international media houses were organised to Senai Airport City and Port of Tanjung Pelepas, aimed at increasing the company’s brand position and garnering positive media coverage, apart from providing the media with close-up experiences and valuable insights about MMC and its operating companies. Penang Port, on a different occasion, celebrated media colleagues through Media Appreciation Night for their continuous support in promoting port businesses to a broader audience.
