In conjunction with the auspicious Chinese New Year celebration, Senai International Airport took the opportunity to distribute mandarin oranges at the Aeromall. The distribution was led by Noor Safura Suib, General Manager Commercial of Senai International Airport as a simple way of showing appreciation to all passengers and wishing them happiness and prosperity.
Mandarin oranges have always been considered a traditional symbol of good fortune. This is mainly because the word orange, when spoken in mandarin, sounds similar to the word “wealth”. The orange hue of the fruit is also said to symbolise “gold”, which makes it a very auspicious fruit.
Giving mandarin oranges to loved ones during the celebration is a symbolic way of wishing someone happiness and prosperity, as you are literally giving them “wealth”, which is why exchanging mandarin oranges when visiting one’s house has always been a form of respect and tradition.
Senai International Airport would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a Happy Chinese New Year. May this year of the water rabbit bring you abundance, good health, success and lots of traveling!
