Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, continued its annual tradition of reaching out to the underprivileged community during this year’s Deepavali celebration.
On 21 October 2022, Northport organised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme with the students and teachers at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) (SJKT) Ladang Bukit Rajah, Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang. The school, located in a former palm estate area in Bukit Raja, has a total of 144 students.
A group of Northport employees was welcomed by Vasu Subramaniam, Headmaster of SJKT Ladang Bukit Rajah, Logeswari Vethasalam, Chairman of the Parent Teacher Association and teachers.
During the programme, essential food items were distributed to 30 underprivileged students. Tree-planting activity was also held as part of the CSR activity to demonstrate Northport’s commitment towards Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives.
Northport organises CSR programmes annually which include activities carried out during Malaysia’s major festivals with the aim to reach out and help underprivileged communities celebrate the festivals. Aside from instilling the feeling of unity among multiracial Malaysians in celebrating festivities of different cultures and religions, the activities organised also demonstrate the Company’s commitment towards a better community with sustainability initiatives, which reflect Northport as a responsible corporate citizen.
