On 24 November 2022, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group participated in GO ESG ASEAN Corporate & Sustainability Summit and Exhibition, organised by UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB).
Aiming to highlight the key role of ESG data in accelerating ASEAN’s sustainability agenda, the conference was royally addressed by His Royal Highness Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah, the Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan.
During the event, Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP joined other panellists which were Nitin Jaiswal, Head of Government & Regulatory Affairs & Strategic Relations at Bloomberg LP, Asia Pacific, Gabriel Wilson Otto, Head of Sustainability at Fidelity International and MA Victoria A Tan, Head, Group Risk Management and Sustainability at Ayala Corporation discussing the topic of "Data Driven ESG Trends Unlocking New Opportunities for Partnerships & Innovations” which was moderated by Shanta Helena Dwarkasing, Director of UNGCMYB.
Earlier that month, PTP also participated in SME SDG Sustainability Festival held at Opero Hotel, Johor Bahru. It was the first conference of its kind in Johor and was officiated by YB Dato’ Haji Mohd Noorazam Bin Dato’ Haji Osman, Mayor of Johor Bahru City Council to enable Malaysian enterprises to better navigate the new operating landscape - a carbon neutral and resilient economy.
Marco Neelsen was featured as one of the speakers at the conference who spoke on the topic "ESG Emphasis to Drive Sustainability in Organisations". Other speakers included Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim, President of JCorp, Nicholas Piggott, Co-CEO of Nutrition Technologies and Gerard Soosay, CEO of Sunway, who spoke on various sustainability topics such as on sustainability trade & supply chain, climate action, prosperous work, innovation for the circular economy, strategy & leadership and future thinking- the world SMEs need.
PTP's participation in both conferences is in line with its ESG framework and its ongoing efforts to raise brand awareness in the region.
