Welcome to the third-quarter edition of The Hub for 2024!
Time sure flies! As we move into the final stretch of the year, it's time to reflect on the Group's accomplishments for the past three months. It has been busy months indeed marked by impactful initiatives, key milestones and record breakings that continue to elevate the visibility of MMC Group in the industry.
The Ports and Logistics division has seen exceptional achievements, with many record-breaking milestones. Northport, for instance, recently achieved a new monthly records of 365,558 TEUs of containers and 1,145,021 FWTs of conventional cargo in August, surpassing the previous records set just the month before. In the Southern region, Johor Port recorded its highest monthly throughput ever, handling 102,324 TEUs in August and surpassing its previous record of 99,039 TEUs handled in the month of July 2019. Meanwhile, the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) made history by handling 1,115,181 TEUs in a single month, without experiencing congestion. This remarkable feat not only solidifies PTP as the first port in Malaysia to achieve back-to-back records but also reinforces its status as a leading maritime and transshipment hub, both regionally and globally.
In the Energy and Utilities sector, Alam Flora Sdn Bhd and Malakoff Corporation Berhad both received top honours at the Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards 2024. Alam Flora was recognised as Company of the Year (Waste Management) for its sustainable waste management practices, while Malakoff was awarded Company of the Year (Energy Generation) for its efforts in community care and environmental conservation.
On the engineering front, MMC Engineering made its mark by earning three Malaysia Book of Records awards for its work on the Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) 14-Line Aircraft MRO Hangar at KLIA. As the main contractor, MMC Engineering takes great pride in being entrusted with the design and construction of this groundbreaking project. The hangar, one of the largest and most advanced in Asia, stands as a testament to MMC Engineering's technical excellence and innovation within the aviation sector. These records underscore MMC Engineering's ability to deliver large-scale infrastructure projects that not only meet but exceed industry standard.
