On 18 September, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport) organised the second Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) Meeting and Tabletop Emergency Exercise for 2024. The half-day meeting which was co-organised by the Aviation Security Division (AVSEC) and Airport Fire & Rescue Services (AFRS) team, was held at Senai Business Aviation Terminal.

The meeting and emergency exercise were chaired by Tuan S. Gunasegeran, Chief of Security & Safety and received full attendance from Senai International Airport's key stakeholders, including representatives from Johor state, airlines, government bodies, authorities, and the emergency response teams stationed within the airport. The objective of the meeting was to strengthen the 3Cs in any emergency response which is Communication, Coordination, and Control among all key stakeholders.

Tabletop Emergency Exercise was then conducted during the second half of the meeting. Acting as the moderator, Tuan S. Gunasegeran presented a pre-planned emergency scenario with each committee member reading out the actual script and enacting their roles in the response. A panel of judges which included Mohamed Ishak Abdul Jabbar of Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia Johor, ASP Mohd Asnawi Mohamed Noor of District Police Headquarters Kulai, PgKB II Jasni Yusof of Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia Johor, and Dr Ahmad Abdulbasitz bin Ahmad Fatan of Sultanah Aminah Hospital were present to evaluate the exercise and provided feedback on areas for improvement.

Senai International Airport hoped that the exercise will further solidify the coordination needed for a real airport emergency. This Tabletop Emergency Exercise serves as a key preparation step for the Full-Scale Emergency Exercise scheduled in December 2024, as per Airport Service Manual Part 7, Airport Emergency Plan.
