On 14 July 2024, what seemed like a usual Sunday for passengers and tenants at Senai International Airport, turned into an unexpected and lively performance as 250 students from Foon Yew High School Kulai executed a surprise flashmob. This event was part of the school's promotional activities for their upcoming 20th anniversary celebration on 17 and 18 August 2024.
The students' energetic and synchronised dance routines transformed the usual airport atmosphere, providing a memorable experience for everyone present. This performance was part of a larger series of flashmobs held at other popular venues, including Sutera Mall, IOI Mall and Aeon Mall, Kulai.
The performance began with one of the Foon Yew High School Kulai students starting to hit the drum and then harmoniously, another group of students on the woodwind and strings appeared among the travellers to chime in making up an upbeat song. The performance continued with a familiar song titled "Saya Anak Malaysia" followed by a choir and dance performance to the famous "I Will Follow You", a remake of the original song recorded in the 60s.
The flashmob not only highlighted the artistic abilities of the students but also fostered a sense of community. Although it was a surprise for the passengers, the performance was made known to the Chief of Security, Tuan Gunasegeran, and his team, and it was done under the supervision of his officers on duty to ensure safety and security were not compromised.
Senai International Airport not only aims to be the main gateway and premier logistics hub for the Southern region, but we also strive to contribute and support the airport community in any way possible, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances the overall travel experience and promotes economic growth in the region.
