Gas Malaysia Energy Advance Seal 15-Year Energy Supply Agreement with FGV IFFCO

On 27 August, Gas Malaysia Energy Advance Sdn Bhd (GMEA), a joint venture company between Gas Malaysia Berhad and Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Corporation, has formalised a 15-year Energy Supply Agreement (ESA) with FGV IFFCO Sdn Bhd (FISB). The official signing ceremony took place at the Glenmarie Hotel and Golf Resort and was attended by representatives from both organisations.


Under the terms of the agreement, GMEA will design, construct, own, and operate a Gas Turbine Co-Generation System at FISB's manufacturing facility. The system is engineered to deliver up to 3.93 megawatts (MW) of electricity and 30 tonnes per hour of low-pressure steam, effectively fulfilling FISB's industrial utility requirements efficiently.


The ESA was signed by Gas Malaysia's President & Group Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of GMEA, Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap accompanied by the Acting Executive Vice President, New Ventures, Mohd Shariff Lubis, as witness. FISB was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Anurag Sen and its Legal Manager, Zeida Farhana Mukti, as witness.


At present, GMEA operates three cogeneration plants with a total capacity of 41.7 MW, with one strategically located in Shah Alam, Selangor and two in Prai, Penang, further strengthening the company's role in reducing its carbon footprint.


This strategic partnership reflects the partnership is closely aligned with Gas Malaysia's GM32 Strategy, a 10-year roadmap for growth trajectory and also aligns well with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the country's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
