On 2 September 2025, Gas Malaysia Berhad (Gas Malaysia) and Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), both members of the MMC Group, participated in the Corporate Zakat Handover Ceremony to His Royal Highness Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, held at Istana Alam Shah, Klang.
At the ceremony, Gas Malaysia contributed RM3,500,000.00, while Northport contributed RM1,640,196.00, in zakat payments to the Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS). These contributions reflect the continued commitment of both companies in fulfilling their religious and social responsibilities in support of the asnaf community in Selangor.
Gas Malaysia was represented by its President & Group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap and accompanied by its Executive Vice President of Group Marketing, Mohamad Farid Ghazali. Northport was represented by its Director, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of MMC Port Holdings Berhad, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, together with Acting Chief Executive Officer of Northport, Nik Muzani Nik Abdul Aziz.
Also present at the ceremony were Datuk Salehuddin Saidin, Chairman of Majlis Agama Islam Selangor (MAIS), Tan Sri Syed Anwar Jamalullail, Chairman of LZS and Tan Sri Ambrin Buang, Deputy Chairman of LZS.
This year, a total of RM64.97 million in zakat contributions were handed over to LZS by 13 corporations and one individual. The funds will be channelled by LZS to benefit more than 350,000 zakat recipients across Selangor through various assistance and socio-economic development programmes.
