On 28 July 2025, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, marked another significant milestone with the official launch of its newly expanded liquid jetty facilities, further reinforcing its position as the Southern Gateway Multi-Purpose Port.
The launch ceremony was graced by Tuan Mohd Masni Bin Wakiman, District Officer of Johor Bahru. Also present were Dr Haji Rosnan bin Fathlal, Chairman of the Johor Port Authority, alongside our esteemed customers including FGV and PacOil, Government Agencies, strategic partners and the dedicated Johor Port team, whose support was instrumental in making this achievement a reality.
Commencing on 2 October 2023, this RM140 million expansion project involved the construction of two new Liquid Jetties, specifically designed to accommodate vessels of up to 120,000 DWT. These facilities are purpose-built to cater to the growing demands of the edible oil and liquid bulk sector, while also improving vessel turnaround times and enhancing service delivery. The new liquid jetties will increase the handling capacity from 15.0 mil to 20 mil tons per annum, positioning Johor Port as a key Liquid Bulk Hub in Southeast Asia.
Strategically located at the eastern end of the existing BT6 and BT8 jetties, the new jetties are equipped with a comprehensive range of modern amenities and safety features, including a pipe rack supporting 25 pipelines and a fully equipped loading platform featuring oil sumps, emergency showers and a marine crane as well as a dedicated operations room with integrated CCTV surveillance. Robust fire-fighting systems and Class 3 cargo infrastructure have been installed with adaptability for future Class 1 requirements. Additional amenities include comprehensive Wi-Fi connectivity, an oil boom deployment area and optimised lighting for night operations.
Developed with a strong emphasis on Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards, this expansion reflects Johor Port's steadfast dedication to sustainable port operations and continuous innovation, positioning the port as a resilient and forward-looking maritime gateway supporting Malaysia's trade flows and driving economic growth across Southeast Asian region.
