On 23 July 2025, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, was honoured to welcome a distinguished delegation from the Mekong Institute, Thailand, accompanied by officers from Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB).
Mekong Institute (MI), with the endorsement of the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, had organized the "Structured Learning Visit cum Workshops on Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore Railway Connectivity" from 16-25 July 2025. This Programme involved international delegates from ASEAN member states travelling through Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore on a study tour with Johor Port Berhad selected as one of the key venues for the visit in recognition of its strategic role in regional trade and logistics.
The Programme aimed to evaluate the current level of railway connectivity among Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore in terms of infrastructure, operations and logistics integration; engage stakeholders through workshops and dialogue sessions to gather insights and share expertise and identify challenges, barriers and opportunities for Policy alignment and investment to accelerate the realisation of the Pan-Asia Railway Network.
During the visit to Johor Port, the delegation received a comprehensive corporate briefing, where the delegation was given an overview of Johor Port's integrated port services and its strategic role as the Southern Gateway for regional and international trade. The delegation was also briefed on the Rail Inter Terminal transfer connectivity between Johor Port and PTP. Johor Port highlighted its strategic role in regional logistics, contributing to greater integration and efficiency in ASEAN rail connectivity. Amongst others, the discussions also touched on Johor Port's pivotal role as a Multimodal Logistics Hub, where sea-rail integration enhances regional connectivity, supply chain efficiency and ASEAN-wide trade competitiveness.
This initiative underscored Johor Port's commitment to supporting sustainable, integrated and future-ready transport solutions, aligning with ASEAN's vision for a connected Pan-Asia Railway Network.
