On 4 October 2023, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asosiasi Badan Usaha Pelabuhan Indonesia (ABUPI), a body representing private terminals, ports and Indonesian entrepreneurs as well as being the parent organisation of national companies involved in port services, including Badan Usaha Pelabuhan (BUP), Terminal Khusus (Tersus), and Terminal Untuk Kepentingan Sendiri (TUKS).
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Johor Port Board Room and witnessed by esteemed members of both organisations. The Johor Port team, led by KC Low, Head of Corporate Affairs Division, and ABUPI, led by Aulia Febrial Fatwa, Chairman of ABUPI, were united in a collaborative spirit to pursue a 3-year strategic partnership aims at fostering synergies in maritime training and consultation services.
The MoU serves as a structured framework for collaboration, emphasising professionalism and good corporate governance principles in Maritime Training and Consultation services. This will also set the stage for the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and resources between the two entities.
In conjunction with the signing of the MoU, the members of ABUPI were taken on a port tour of Johor Port and Port of Tanjung Pelepas. In addition, 15 Committee and Ordinary Members from ABUPI, together with its Chairman, also attended the Port Business Acumen training programme with Johor Port Skills Centre at Berjaya Waterfront Hotel on 3 October 2023.
This landmark partnership between Johor Port and ABUPI represents a significant step forward for the Maritime industry in Malaysia and Indonesia. As this transformative collaboration unfolds, it is expected to propel the Maritime industry to new heights, ensuring that both nations remain at the forefront of the ever-evolving Maritime landscape.
