On 7 November 2023, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, organised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration with students and teachers at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Taman Sentosa, Klang.

During the programme, Northport presented hampers to the school as a gesture of celebrating Deepavali. The school's Headmaster, S. Thamilarasu, and the Chairman of the Parent Teacher Association, A. Thangarajah were present to receive Northport's contribution on behalf of the school.

As part of the CSR programme, Northport's employees shared knowledge about sustainable agriculture with the school children, with a specific focus on the hydroponic method. The team from Northport's Facilities Department further contributed to this initiative by installing two sets of hydroponic equipment.

The school children were given the opportunity to grow water spinach using the hydroponic method. This hands-on experience aimed to instill a sense of ownership and a caring attitude toward the ecosystem among the younger generation.

The Deepavali CSR programme demonstrated Northport's commitment to actively engage with the local community, while at the same time igniting the spirit of the celebration. The programme was also integrated into Northport's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework and initiatives, underscoring the company's dedication to holistic responsibility and sustainability.
