On 12 October 2023, Senai Airport City and Wiwynn Malaysia officiated the reforestation collaboration program in conjunction with Wiwynn's grand opening of its Phase 1 facility at Senai Airport City's Free Industrial Zone.
The tree planting activities were led by YBhg. Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad, Gan Seng Keong, Chief Executive Officer of Senai Airport City, Emily Hong, Chairperson of Wiwynn and Colin Todd of Microsoft.
To further advocate and promote a sustainable development in line with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, Senai Airport City conducted a live scientific study of the nine (9) selected types of trees and its fruits, in terms of species, age and carbon dioxide absorption rate, which was also reviewed by a Research Professor from Taiwan.
In line with the Reforestation Collaboration Program which was entered into between Senai Airport City and Wiwynn Malaysia in Taipei on 4th July 2023, the selected two thousand (2,000) trees to be planted within Senai Airport City development are a combination of edible fruit trees and forest trees, including Nangka, Cempedak, Jambu Laut, Magga and Kasai.
The reforestation collaboration program in conjunction with Wiwynn's grand opening marks an important milestone for both Senai Airport City and Wiwynn Malaysia, a leading cloud IT infrastructure provider that develops high-performance computing storage products and rack solutions for World Tech Giants such as Google, Amazon, Meta, Apple, and Microsoft (GAMAM).
Wiwynn's grand opening ceremony of its largest international manufacturing facility covering 31 acres in Senai Airport City's Free Industrial Zone, was graced by Tuan Haji Mohd Fahmi, Yang Dipertua Kulai District Municipal Counci, Pheobe Yeh, Taipei Economic Cultural Office Malaysia representative and other government and industry stakeholders.
It is a testament of Senai Airport City's endeavour to deliver its value proposition to its investors and consistently ensure that Senai Airport City is one of the preferred choices of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) in Malaysia.
