Senai International Airport Celebrates Integrity by 'Doing the Right Thing'

On 26 October 2023, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport), a member of MMC Group, organised its annual Compliance, Integrity & Legal Day (CIL Day) with a mission to promote integrity. Coinciding with Vendor Day, the Organising Committee took the opportunity in combining both events to become Business Ethics & Integrity Day (BEI Day).

The programme was jointly organised by the departments under Senai International Airport, namely the Legal Department, Compliance, Risk & Integrity Management Department, and Procurement Department. The one-day programme was attended by stakeholders and business partners including vendors, contractors, tenants, suppliers, airline representatives of Senai International Airport and members of MMC Group from Johor Port Berhad and Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd.

Participants got to listen to a talk by Assistant Commissioner Tuan Ahmad Faizul Abdul Rashid, Deputy Head of State Investigation, Malaysian Corruption Prevention Commission (MACC), Johor who spoke about his subject matter expert - MACC Act 2009 and Integrity during the first half of the day. Highlighting this year's theme, 'Whistleblower, Do the Right Thing', Tuan Ahmad Faizul also introduced the rights and the protection that is provided to a whistleblower. The session received a widespread of positive responses from various audiences as they can relate to real-life cases.

Following that, Nisham Wijee, Head of Group Internal Audit, MMC Corporation Berhad, introduced MMC Group's Whistleblowing Policy to the BEI Day participants.

The one-day event was also an opportunity for Senai International Airport to engage and meet directly with its stakeholders and business partners, as well as to re-introduce the importance and role of the Compliance, Risk & Integrity Management Department and Procurement Department, which have been among the main liaison between the airport and its stakeholders.

This programme continued with an invited Legal Aid Department (JBG) Johor speaker, Thalha binti Bachok @Embok Mok, Director of JBG Johor who shared the objectives and roles of its institution in providing legal services for the underprivileged and spreading awareness that everyone deserves equal legal defense regardless of their income level. As part of their outreach programmes, JBG also set up Legal Aid Clinic to assist BEI Day participants with their civil or shariah consultations free of charge.

Senai International Airport hoped that this programme could inspire all of the participants to instil the commitment to upholding integrity in all their endeavours and continue to do the right thing.
