Alam Flora Bagged the Excellent Waste Management Recognition and Waste Reduction and Circularity Award at WMAM 2024

On 4 October 2024, Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (Alam Flora), a subsidiary of Malakoff, achieved significant recognition at the Waste Management Association of Malaysia (WMAM) Conference and Exhibition 2024. The company was awarded the prestigious 'Excellent Waste Management Recognition and Waste Reduction and Circularity Award' for its outstanding contributions to sustainable waste management practices.


The awards were presented by Tuan Hee Loy Sian, Chairman of the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation to Mohd Norazizi Zakaria, Head of Waste Management Facilities Alam Flora Environmental Solutions (AFES), a subsidiary of Alam Flora and a member company of Malakoff. This recognition underscores Alam Flora's commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship.

 

In addition to the awards, Alam Flora which also a platinum sponsor of the event, has actively participated in the conference by showcasing its recent achievements and new ideas through an exhibition. As a result of Alam Flora's engagement with the event's participants, the company has successfully highlighted its journey towards promoting environmental sustainability. The event was also graced by the presence of Datuk Saidatu Akhma binti Hassan, Deputy Secretary General (Planning and Sustainable Environment) of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, who visited Alam Flora's booth and expressed strong interest in the company's waste management and recycling initiatives. Ts. Ismi Azura Istear Khan, the Manager, Recovery & Treatment at AFES, gave a stimulating presentation at the conference while sharing Alam Flora's approaches to circular economy.

 

The awards reflect Malakoff's commitment towards the UN Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) No. 9 - Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, which aims to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, and foster innovation. Additionally, it also supports UN SDG No. 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production, which aims to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. The participation aligns with Malakoff's overarching purpose of 'Enhancing Life, Enriching Communities'.
