On 7 and 8 November 2024, Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd (Senai Airport City), a member of MMC Group, and Mercedes-Benz Parts Logistics Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd. (MBPLAP) celebrated the grand opening of MBPLAP's Asia Pacific Regional Logistics Center Malaysia (RLCM) in Senai Airport City Free Commercial Zone.
The selection of Senai Airport City is a long-term logistical strategy, aiming to make RLCM the Asia Pacific's centre for parts supply chain. RLCM is 60% larger than the facility in Singapore, spanning over 62 acres of land with a built-up area of 97,000 sqm., and equipped with 210,000 storage locations. It is estimated that there will be an average throughput of 100 containers weekly, serving the supply chain networks across 20 markets within the Asia Pacific region.
The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art IT systems of autonomous equipment such as smart driverless forklifts, climate control storage areas, infrared-based fire detection cameras and the inbound material handling operations. Additionally, it will be supported by autonomous mobile robots to distribute an assortment of spare parts for the after-sales services.
Gracing the ceremony were Dato' Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Johor Menteri Besar; Fizwan Dato' Haji Mohd Rashidi, Kulai District Officer; Haji Mohd Fahmi Salam, Kulai Municipal Council and Gan Seng Keong, Chief Executive Officer of Senai Airport City.
The RLCM grand opening is a testament to Senai Airport City's commitment and deliverables to consistently being the preferred choice of industrial park by numerous multinational companies, both Foreign Direct Investors and Domestic Direct Investors, to serve the regional and global market.
