On 19 December 2024, MMC Infra Padi Sdn Bhd, a member of MMC Group, was honoured to take part in the Signing Ceremony of the Concession Agreement in relation to the Development of Infrastructure to Support Five (5) Seasons in Two (2) Years Paddy Cultivation at Kawasan Muda Project. The project, which will be carried out under the supervision of the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA), marks a significant leap in transforming Malaysia's agricultural landscape and reinforcing national food security.

Aligned with the RM1 Billion MADANI Budget 2025, Phase 1 of this project focuses on two main areas, being the Development and Maintenance of 15 Blocks Tertiary Irrigation System and the Rehabilitation of Pedu Dam. One of its objectives is to increase the average paddy yield from 5.00 to potentially 5.60 metric tonnes per hectare. This project is also expected to enhance farmers' annual income by 50% from approximately RM31,000 to RM46,000 through additional planting seasons. Additionally, paddy production is planned to increase by 6% from 775,000 tonnes valued at RM1.008 billion to 821,000 tonnes valued at RM1.068 billion.

The ceremony was officiated by YB Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad bin Sabu, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM). During the event, Datuk Seri Isham Ishak, the Secretary-General of KPKM, executed the agreement on behalf of the Government, while Tuan Haji Kamarudin Dahuli, General Manager, represented the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA), and Mohamad Asroll Mansor, Chief Executive Officer of MMC Engineering Sdn Bhd, represented MMC Infra Padi Sdn Bhd.

This collaboration is seen as crucial for developing more efficient infrastructure and irrigation systems, improving the quality of life for paddy farmers, enhancing the nation's rice self-sufficiency level (SSR), as well as supporting the country's economic growth in line with the Malaysia MADANI Core Values.
