On 28 November 2024, Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (Alam Flora), a subsidiary of Malakoff, successfully hosted the 'Jom Plogging: I Love the Earth' programme in collaboration with Cameron Highlands District Forest Office. This initiative aimed to clean up the area around Taman Sedia while raising awareness among the locals about the importance of environmental conservation.
The programme attracted enthusiastic participation from key representatives of the Cameron Highlands District Forest Office, as well as locals from Taman Sedia. The event commenced with a welcoming speech by Khairul Azman Sapwani, Alam Flora's State Manager for Pahang, who expressed appreciation for the attendees' commitment to environmental stewardship. All participants then took part in a lively Zumba session to get them energised before the plogging began.
Khairul Azman Sapwani, together with Muhamed Redzuan Mat Yusoof, SWCorp's Cameron Highlands Branch Manager, flagged off the plogging activity. The event, which combines jogging with litter collection, highlights the value of combining exercise with community action to promote a healthier, cleaner environment and reinforce a shared commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the Cameron Highlands.
In support of the 'Love Food, Hate Wastage' initiative, participants were given reusable containers for lunch to encourage them to reduce waste and be more eco-friendly. This approach aimed to raise awareness of the importance of minimising food waste and adopting sustainable habits in daily life.
The 'Jom Plogging: I Love the Earth' programme highlighted Alam Flora's commitment to fostering community involvement in environmental protection and sustainability, serving as an inspiring reminder of our collective responsibility to protect our planet for future generations, while demonstrating its leadership in promoting eco-friendly practices and cultivating a culture of environmental stewardship.
This programme is a part of Malakoff Group's commitment towards the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities, which aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
