On 25 and 26 October 2024, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, organised a transformative two-day trip to the Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF) 2024 for 30 students and 6 teachers from local Gelang Patah schools.
In collaboration with Eco Knights, a non-governmental environmental organisation that focuses on working with key stakeholders to drive and empower sustainable actions for a better planet, the programme aimed to educate and inspire students while fostering a culture of environmental consciousness and sustainable practices within the community. This initiative is also part of PTP's 2024 Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Eco Lestari Programme, aimed at cultivating the next generation of environmental stewards.
During the immersive KLEFF experience, the students, who are also PTP's Eco Warriors, delved into various art and sustainability-based workshops, from crafting beautiful nipah handicrafts and creating miniature terrariums to upcycling plastic waste. They also had the opportunity to watch inspiring eco-films from local and international filmmakers.
By nurturing these young minds, PTP empowers them to become catalysts for sustainable change in their communities. This aligns with PTP's overarching goal of building a sustainable, green, and equitable community in Johor. The PTP Eco Lestari Programme is one of the three key pillars of PTP's CSI Framework which focuses on environmental sustainability, social welfare, and community development.
