Johor Port Celebrates the Future of Maritime Leadership at The Professional Master in Port Management Convocation

Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, proudly announces the successful completion of its second cohort of the Professional Master in Port Management Program during the 2024 UTMSPACE Convocation Ceremony.


This cutting-edge master programme, launched in 2021, is a collaboration between JP Skills Centre (JPSC), Johor Port's Training Division and UTMSPACE. It is strategically designed to develop the next generation of maritime leadership with a keen focus on advanced port management, logistics and international trade. The curriculum seamlessly blends innovative theory with practical real-world scenarios and under the guidance of industry-experienced lecturers and trainers, graduates are empowered to navigate the complexities of the dynamic maritime industry with confidence and creativity.


A prestigious convocation ceremony to mark a significant milestone for this transformative master programme was held on 23 November 2024 at the Dewan Sultan Iskandar, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai. The conferment was officiated by Prof. Datuk Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail, UTM Vice Chancellor. Eight outstanding professionals from Johor Port and its subsidiary, SPT Services Sdn Bhd (SPT Services), were celebrated for being awarded with the Professional Master in Port Management. Notably, five of them also received the First Class Medal for achieving a CGPA of 3.67 and above.


By investing in such programmes, Johor Port reaffirms its commitment and dedication to shaping the future of the maritime Industry, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.


The globally accredited Professional Master in Port Management Program, developed and managed by JPSC in collaboration with UTMSPACE, is open to local and overseas applicants who are not from the maritime or logistics sector.   


Established in 2014 as the Training Division of Johor Port Berhad, JPSC is committed to equipping port and logistics personnel with the essential skills, qualifications, and competencies necessary to deliver effective port services. Over the years, JPSC has grown to become the centre of excellence for MMC Ports with its programmes accredited by the Department of Skills Development, the national accrediting body for vocational qualifications in port equipment trainings as well as being registered under the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF). JPSC has also expanded its academic reach by conducting long-term training programmes for Sabah Ports, Kuantan Port Consortium, and Bintulu Port Berhad.


JPSC was certified by the United Nations Conference for Trade & Development (UNCTAD) in 2017 as the authorised Training Provider for the UNCTAD Train for Trade Modern Port Management Program for English-speaking networks, a recognition which underscored JPSC's commitment to delivering world-class training. JPSC has since expanded its international footprint by conducting overseas training sessions for companies and ports based in Indonesia, Vietnam, Maldives and Qatar, showcasing JPSC's reach, influence and expertise on a global stage.
