Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport) once again played a pivotal role in facilitating the transportation logistics for cyclists and crew members participating in the Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi (LTDL) Malaysia 2024, as they continued to the next stage of the 28th edition of the most prestigious cycling race in the Asian continent.

Held from 29 September to 6 October 2024, the race began in Langkawi and concluded in Bintulu, Sarawak. This year, Kulai, Johor made its debut as a host city in Stage 6, where cyclists challenged themselves through a thrilling journey from Batu Pahat to Kulai covering 123.4 kilometres.

To support this prestigious event, Senai International Airport demonstrated its capabilities as the southern regional hub for commercial and business aviation, facilitating seamless coordination while working with the event organisers, local authorities, and airlines for the LTDL cyclists, their race equipment, and crew members as they travelled to Miri, Sarawak. A total of 800 passengers, including LTDL cyclists and crew members, and 38 tonnes of cargo were transported on five chartered flights using Batik Air's Boeing B737-800 Max and MASKargo's A330F freighter. The first chartered flight arrived at 1:00 PM, and the final flight departed Senai International Airport at 9:05 PM. Meanwhile, the MASKargo A330F arrived at 2:35 PM and departed at 7:47 PM.

This large-scale logistical operation showcased Senai International Airport's ability to manage complex international events, including handling services, fast lanes, dedicated Aviation Fire & Rescue Services, and Aviation Security. The streamlined processes ensured that passengers and their equipment were transported comfortably and securely, with all staff members playing a vital role in providing exceptional support.

The airport's successful chartered logistics operations for the LTDL further underscore its growing reputation as a reliable hub for international events and chartered logistics. Senai International Airport continues to strengthen its position as a key player in Malaysia's aviation and logistics industry, supporting major events that contribute to both the country's and the state's tourism and sports sectors.
