Northport Drives Sustainable Development and Community Engagement Through Deepavali CSR Programme

On 7 November 2024, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, organised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration. The programme invited students and teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan St Anne's Convent, Port Klang, to the port to learn and experience Northport's sustainability initiatives.


The programme showcased Northport's 'Circle of Life' project that features the hydroponic farming system within the port premises. Through hands-on activities, students gained practical experience in sustainable agriculture, fostering environmental stewardship among the younger generation.


Coinciding with Northport's 'Ayuh Kitar Semula 9.0' campaign, the group also learned about TeamNorthport's recycling initiatives at the Port Reception Facilities (PRF). This session highlighted the company's commitment to the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) principles and demonstrated practical applications of waste management in a port setting.


The programme also included a tour of Northport's facilities, providing students with valuable insights into port operations and management. The event concluded with a presentation of hampers to the students as a gesture of celebrating Deepavali.


The Deepavali CSR programme exemplifies Northport's dedication to sustainable development and community engagement while celebrating Malaysia's rich cultural diversity. This initiative, which reflects Northport's holistic approach to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, stands as a testament to the company's commitment to creating a lasting positive impact on both the community and the environment.
