On 21 April 2025, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd ("Northport"), a member of MMC Group, acquired three units of the Proton e.MAS 7 for its security surveillance operations. With this new addition to its vehicle fleet, Northport becomes the first organisation and port operator in Malaysia to purchase and use the Proton e.MAS 7 for its port security operations. The handover ceremony was held at Northport C Building, from PRO-NET ("Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd") to Northport.
The acquisition reflects Northport's ongoing commitment to making its daily operations more environmentally friendly. As Proton's first fully electric SUV, the e.MAS 7 brings real benefits to day-to-day patrols. Its smooth and quiet drive helps reduce fatigue for the employees during long shifts, while quieter operations lessen noise in the port area. The vehicle's fast charging capability means it is always ready when needed and the energy efficient electric powertrain helps cut down on both fuel costs and emissions.
"At Northport, we are committed to embracing sustainable practices and clean energy solutions. The Proton e.MAS 7 aligns perfectly with our environmental goals and supports our Green Port initiatives and ESG commitments. As a proudly Malaysian port, choosing Proton also reflects our support for local innovation and national industry development. The Proton e.MAS 7 offers the right balance of performance, safety and technology, making it ideal for the demanding needs of our port operations," said Fakhrul Azhar Tajudin, Chief Executive Officer of Northport.
Last month, Northport acquired 12 units of Blueshark R1 electric bikes to replace its existing motorcycle fleet. This initiative reflects Northport's ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable operations and strengthening its effort towards Environmental, Social and Governance ("ESG") principles.
