On 27 May 2025, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport) welcomed a visit from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM), led by Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kasim Executive Chairman of MAVCOM. Accompanying him were Pushpalatha Subramaniam, Director of Consumer and Public Affairs, and several MAVCOM officials. The visit was part of MAVCOM's ongoing efforts to stay abreast of developments at key airports across the country.
Kennedy Ayu, Chief Executive Officer of Senai International Airport, personally received the MAVCOM delegates as they touched down from Kuala Lumpur.
The programme commenced with a comprehensive sharing session led by Nur Aza Kamis, Head of Finance, Senai International Airport, who presented the latest developments along with immediate and long-term initiatives to enhance airport capacity, passenger experience, and operational efficiency. This was followed by a presentation from Nafisah Abdul Nasir, Manager of Aviation Development, MAVCOM, who shared updates from the Commission's perspective, particularly on regulatory focus areas and QoS performance.
The visit also included a meaningful exchange of views surrounding the upcoming Visit Johor 2026 campaign. Datuk Seri Saripuddin shared valuable suggestions and encouraged continued collaboration to further support tourism and regional connectivity.
Pushpalatha commended Senai International Airport for its strong stakeholder engagement and consistent performance under MAVCOM's Quality of Service (QoS) Framework, which has been in place at Senai International Airport since May 2024. During the shadow evaluation phase, the airport demonstrated full commitment by taking prompt action to improve all areas being assessed. The airport was evaluated on 13 elements under four key categories, including passenger comfort and facilities, operator and staff amenities, queuing times, and passenger and baggage flow, and successfully passed all criteria. Independent audits were conducted by MAVCOM-appointed auditors from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and based on the latest published results, Senai International Airport is among the few regional airports to have achieved full compliance across all evaluated areas. Other airports under this evaluation include KLIA, KLIA2, Kuching, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, and Langkawi.
Before departing, the MAVCOM delegates toured several upgraded facilities and passenger touchpoints to observe the latest enhancements at the airport. The visit was a great opportunity to strengthen ties between MAVCOM and the airport team, with both sides sharing the same goal of improving service standards and getting ready for future growth.
