On 17 April 2025, Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a member of MMC Group, was honoured to welcome Dr Maximilian Rothkopf, Hapag-Lloyd AG Chief Operating Officer.
Dr Rothkopf, accompanied by Hans Schäfer, Senior Managing Director of Region Asia, were warmly received by Mark Hardiman, Chief Executive Officer of PTP; Joe Schofield, Chief Operations Officer of PTP; Prakash Thurairasasingam, Head of Commercial of PTP; and several of PTP management members. The visit held particular significance, as it marked Dr Rothkopf’s first visit to PTP since the launch of the Gemini Cooperation between Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk in February 2025.
The day commenced with a comprehensive presentation covering PTP’s operational performance, on-going developments and sustainability-driven initiatives, setting the tone for engaging discussions centred on enhancing efficiencies and exploring deeper collaborative opportunities. The guests were then taken on a guided tour of PTP’s key facilities, including the Central Planning and Performance Office (CPPO), which features the port’s advanced Asset Digitalisation system that leverages real-time data and analytics to optimise terminal operations.
The visit continued through PTP’s bustling container terminal and expanding Free Zone, underscoring PTP’s strategic growth capacity and pivotal role as a leading regional transshipment hub. Most importantly, the visit reaffirmed PTP’s strong operational capabilities to support the success of the Gemini Cooperation.
As a critical hub within the Gemini Cooperation network, PTP remains fully committed to sustaining high levels of productivity. At PTP, this operational stability is not only vital in adding value for its customers, but also essential in delivering consistent schedule reliability, which remains an enduring cornerstone of its service commitment.
