On 20 June 2025, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), launched its Sustainability Management Framework in conjunction with World Environment Day (WED) 2025. The launch was officiated by Fakhrul Azhar Tajudin, Chief Executive Officer of Northport. The event also featured a series of talks and exhibitions focusing on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) themes.
The programme included a talk by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarva Mangala Praveena, an Environmental Researcher from Universiti Putra Malaysia, who delivered a sharing on “Microplastic Pollution in the Marine Environment”. Another session featured Mohd Rashdan Abd Rashid, Founder of Persatuan Lestari Alam Malaysia, with a talk titled “Fostering Environmental Awareness at Work and Beyond’.
Northport’s Sustainability Management Framework provides a structured approach to integrating ESG elements into its operations and business activities. This framework helps prioritise key focus areas and aligns sustainability strategies to ensure balance between financial gains and Northport’s long-term sustainability goals. With the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution”, the celebration of WED 2025 highlights collective efforts in combating plastic pollution to drive for long-term sustainability.
WED is a global event held annually on 5 June under the auspices of the United Nations Environment Programme. It serves as a platform to raise awareness of environmental issues and advocate for sustainable practices. This initiative reflects Northport’s ongoing commitment to fostering greater environmental awareness among employees and stakeholders, while strengthening its efforts in upholding ESG principles.
