Founded in 1946 by Dr.-Ing. e. h. Erwin Sick, SICK is the world’s leading provider of sensor-based applications for industrial automation. With this latest investment in Johor, SICK is poised to bring cutting-edge technology, job creation, and long-term industry transformation to Malaysia.

“The facility is designed to enhance production capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and support sustainable growth in the Asia-Pacific region. With its strategic location in Senai Airport City in Johor, Malaysia, which is close to our key markets, the new factory will play an important role in SICK’s long-term success,” said Suresh Sundram, Managing Director of SICK Malaysia.

YB Lee Ting Han highlighted, “This project is not just an expansion for SICK at Senai Airport City, but a transformation of Johor’s industrial landscape. Today’s ceremony reinforces Johor’s standing as a preferred destination for high-value, innovation-driven industries and demonstrates the potential for international companies to grow alongside our local communities.”

Gan Seng Keong, Chief Executive Officer of Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd, added, “The decision by a global leader like SICK to establish its advanced manufacturing hub here is a strong endorsement of our infrastructure readiness, world-class connectivity, and strategic location. At Senai Airport City, we are dedicated to driving sustainable industrial growth by offering strategic, infrastructure-ready solutions that meet the evolving demands of global investors. The ground-breaking of SICK’s facility reflects our commitment to shaping an advanced industrial ecosystem that fosters innovation, creates high-value jobs, and strengthens Johor’s position as a regional economic powerhouse.”

With 85% of Free Zone land already occupied by leading international companies, Senai Airport City’s expansion of the Free Zone from 400 acres to 650 acres further underscores its strategic importance. This growth enhances Senai Airport City’s competitiveness and reinforces its contribution to Johor’s economic plans with the JS-SEZ of Iskandar region.
