In tandem with its continuous marketing efforts, on 8 July 2022, Gas Malaysia Energy and Services Sdn Bhd (GMES), a wholly owned subsidiary of Gas Malaysia Berhad (a member of MMC Group) secured its 1000th industrial customer, Wilmar Palm Products Sdn Bhd (Wilmar). To commemorate this milestone achievement, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Wilmar’s newly commissioned plant in Taman Perindustrian Pulau Indah, Selangor. Gracing the ceremony was the Chief Executive Officer of GMES,  Shahrir Shariff and representing Wilmar was the General Manager, Prashand Nair.  

Wilmar has been one of GMES’ loyal partners as the company has supplied gas to them since 1998. Natural gas was initially supplied to PGEO Edible Oils Sdn Bhd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Wilmar International Limited) and now 24 years later, Wilmar Palm Products is the 12 plant to be supplied with natural gas. This is an important milestone for GMES, a testament of the continuous effort in ensuring excellent service delivery; more so as the company is operating under a liberalised market since 1 January 2022.

Gas Malaysia’s industrial customers contribute about 99% of the total gas volume sold. They represent a diverse range of industries that include rubber products, consumer products, glass products and oleo-chemical among others.

Reaching the 1,000 industrial customer mark for GMES is evident that the Gas Malaysia brand is well received within the industry. This achievement complements the company’s concerted efforts well since this year also happens to be Gas Malaysia’s 30 anniversary. Moving forward, GMES will continue to remain focused on prioritising the needs and expectations of our valued customers.
