On 31 July 2022, MMC hosted the Group CEO Awards 2022 ceremony at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel. The ceremony, held in conjunction with the MMC Group Senior Management Retreat, was to celebrate outstanding organisational achievements and remarkable leaders within the Group for Financial Year 2020 and 2021.
Four categories of awards were presented during the ceremony, namely the Profit Under Pressure Award; the Value Creation Award; the Highest Productivity Award; and the Group CEO of the Year Award.
The Profit Under Pressure Award was given to the company which generated rewarding profitability by recording the highest year-on-year Core Profit After Tax & Minority Interest growth during the challenging Covid-19 period. This award was won by Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) for 2020 and Kontena Nasional Berhad for 2021.
The Value Creation Award recognised the company which generated the highest value by recording the highest year-on-year improvement in Returned on Capital Employed over its Weighted Average Cost of Capital. This award was bagged by Alam Flora Sdn Bhd for both 2020 and 2021.
Meanwhile, the Highest Productivity Award category was for the company which generated the highest revenue growth while optimising and to a certain extent, lowering its year-on-year manpower cost. Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport) was announced as 2020’s winner and Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd was the winner for 2021.
The main highlight of the ceremony was the MMC Group CEO Award. It was presented to the company which secured the highest position consistently in the top three for all the above categories. PTP CEO, Marco Neelsen and Northport CEO, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof were announced as the MMC Group CEO of the Year 2020 and 2021 respectively.
