On 6 August 2022, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group participated in a round-table meeting organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the Federal Center for Export Development of Agricultural Products of the Russian Federation at Sofitel KL Damansara Hotel.  

The meeting, attended by Northport’s Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, was part of the Malaysia and Russia Foreign Trade Cooperation program which consist of plenary sessions, business meetings and Business to Business (B2B) negotiations with the food importers and distributors.

As part of the program, a working visit to Northport was also organized on 4 August 2022, aimed at exploring potential business opportunities and logistics support for grain and oil products. The visit was participated by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, industry unions and associations as well as Russian producers of agricultural products and food.

During the visit, the delegates were briefed on Northport’s operational performance and future development by Dato’ Azman. The delegates were then taken for a tour of Northport for an in-depth experience of the port’s operations and facilities.

The trade cooperation program offered a platform for a strategic relationship between Northport and Russian industry players, to promote Northport as one of the important national gateways for agriculture and commodity products.
