Malakoff Hosts Analysts and Fund Managers at Tanjung Bin Power Plant

Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff), a member of MMC Group, hosted a visit to its Tanjung Bin Power Plant Complex by analysts and fund managers on 23 January 2025. The visit, which was organised by TA Research included representatives from Amanahraya Investment Management Sdn Bhd, Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial, Lembaga Tabung Haji, Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Investment Management Unit), TA Investment Management Berhad and TA Securities Holdings Berhad.

Encik Mohammad Amiruddin Kamaluddin, Plant Manager of Tanjung Bin Power Plant, welcomed and briefed the delegation. He introduced Malakoff's business pillars and its current domestic and international presence. He then gave an overview of the operations of the Tanjung Bin Power Plant Complex and its operational performance. He also touched on the Biomass Co-firing initiative, the first of its kind in Malaysia, undertaken by the plant, a flagship under the National Energy Transition Roadmap, which aims to achieve up to 15% biomass capacity by 2027.

The guests were later taken to a plant tour with the first stop at the TBP's Control Room where they were briefed on the importance of its generating capacity in supporting the nation's energy demand. They then proceeded to the Biomass Co-firing facility to gain a deeper understanding of how the mechanism works.

This biomass co-firing initiative is part of Malakoff's commitment towards the UN Sustainable Development Goal ("SDG") No. 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy, which aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. It is also aligned with Malakoff's overarching purpose of 'Enhancing Life, Enriching Communities'.

We would like to thank TA Research for organising the visit. It provided us with an opportunity to engage with the investment community at the operational level, offering them insight into the importance of transitioning towards sustainable energy and the crucial role of power generation in supporting the nation's demand.
