On 10 February 2025, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (SATSSB) held a strategic meeting with key representatives from Capital A, including Deputy Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation, Datuk Captain Chester Voo, and CEO of AirAsia Malaysia, Dato Captain Fareh Mazputra. The meeting focused on AirAsia's five-year operational growth plan and expansion at Senai International Airport, reinforcing its role as a key hub in Johor Bahru.

AirAsia currently operates five A320 aircraft based at Senai Airport, with plans to expand to 14 aircraft by 2030. The airline aims to increase its weekly flights from 174 in 2024 to 350 by 2030, with targeted growth in both domestic and international routes. Domestically, frequency will be enhanced for key destinations such as Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Penang, and Sibu, among others. Meanwhile, international connectivity will be strengthened with new routes to Hong Kong, Manila, and Bangkok.

To facilitate this growth, AirAsia outlined the need for a structured incentive framework to ensure sustainable expansion at Senai Airport. The proposed incentive package aims to support the airline's operational needs while fostering a mutually beneficial partnership. The discussions also emphasized the broader economic impact, including increased connectivity, passenger growth, and long-term revenue generation for Senai International Airport.

The meeting underscored the commitment of both parties to strengthening Johor Bahru's position as a key aviation hub, supporting tourism, trade, and economic development in the region. Further discussions will be held to refine the collaboration and ensure a sustainable growth strategy for the coming years.
