On 14 January 2025, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, in collaboration with the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), organised an outreach programme titled ‘Workshop on Driving Productivity and Skills in Industry with Northport Stakeholders’. The programme introduced Akademi Dalam Industri (ADI) initiative and provided insights into its benefits for workforce development in the port sector.
Held at Wyndham Acmar Klang, the event brought together approximately 100 participants, including representatives from port service providers, government agencies and industry players. It was attended by Fakhrul Azhar Tajudin, Northport’s Chief Executive Officer, and Dr. Mohamad Norjayadi Tamam, Deputy Director General of MPC.
ADI is an innovative collaboration programme between the government, industry and academia aimed at addressing challenges in talent development. This work-based learning programme, supervised by MPC, seeks to reduce dependency on foreign workers and address talent mismatches within the industry.
The programme consisted of three sessions conducted by MPC officers, focusing on encouraging company participation in the ADI initiative, providing guidance on the registration process, and assisting organisations in aligning with industry skill standards.
Through this initiative, Northport demonstrates its commitment to fostering a skilled and competitive workforce among its stakeholders while supporting the government's mission of talent development. This approach not only enhances the capabilities of the local workforce but also establishes a stronger foundation for the industry, paving the way for a sustainable future in the port sector.
