On 27 February 2025, Senai International Airport welcomed the Aviation Security Workshop – Basic 2025 participants for an exclusive security briefing and guided tour. Hosted by Zamri Sulaiman, Senior Manager of Safety & Security at Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport), the visit provided key aviation stakeholders with valuable insights into the airport’s security operations.

Held at the Senai Business Aviation Terminal, the visit commenced with a one-hour briefing session. The session covered crucial aspects of aviation security, including emergency response strategies and inter-agency collaboration in mitigating potential threats. Participants gained a deeper understanding of security protocols and operational readiness in safeguarding civil aviation especially the one implemented at Senai International Airport.

Following the briefing, the participants embarked on a guided tour of the airport’s fire station, where they witnessed first-hand the advanced firefighting and emergency response equipment used by Airport Fire and Rescue Services personnel. The tour offered a closer look at the airport’s preparedness in handling various security and emergency scenarios, reinforcing the importance of coordinated efforts in aviation security.

The visit to Senai International Airport was part of the larger Aviation Security Workshop – Basic 2025, organised by the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT) under the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The three-day workshop, held at Impiana Hotel Senai from 25 – 27 February 2025, brought together key aviation stakeholders, including the Royal Malaysian Police, Royal Malaysia Customs Department, Immigration Department of Malaysia, Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM), Malaysia Airlines Berhad, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, and Ground Team Red.

This initiative highlights SEARCCT’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s and the region’s counter-terrorism capabilities through inter-agency cooperation and knowledge sharing in aviation security.
