In our continued commitment to environmental sustainability, Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd has partnered with Mercedes-Benz Parts Logistics Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd to launch a Biodiversity Tree-Planting Programme at Senai Airport City. This initiative marks another significant step in our ongoing efforts to create a greener, more sustainable future.
The green initiative on 1st March 2025 follows the successful opening of Mercedes-Benz’s state-of-the-art facility at Senai Airport City on 7th November 2024. This marks another milestone in SAC’s vision to become a hub for sustainable, green industrial development in the region. The Biodiversity Tree-Planting Programme aligns with Senai Airport City’s ongoing efforts to address the environmental challenges associated with urbanization and industrial development while fostering a harmonious relationship between nature and industry.
As part of this programme, 42 native tree species have been planted within the Senai Airport City precinct. These species include Mimusops elengi, Lagerstroemia speciosa, Pongamia pinnata, Melaleuca cajuputi, Salix babylonica, and Leptospermum branchyandrum. Carefully selected for their positive environmental impact, these species will enhance soil retention, improve biodiversity, and support long-term ecological sustainability within our Senai Airport City industrial ecosystem.
This collaboration with Mercedes-Benz further strengthens our shared Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, supporting the creation of an environmentally sustainable industrial park. The programme also aligns with global standards such as the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, reinforcing our dedication to sustainable growth.
Building on the successful reforestation programme between Senai Airport City and Wiwynn Corporation in September 2023, this initiative further demonstrates Senai Airport City’s commitment to maintaining high environmental standards within its industrial ecosystem. By focusing on clean, high-tech industries, Senai Airport City continues to attract leading global investors, solidifying our position as a sustainable industrial destination while fostering long-term environmental harmony for the surrounding community.
As we continue the expansion of Phase 3, covering an additional 380 acres of the total 2,718-acre development, Senai Airport City is well-positioned to remain a key player in both Johor’s industrial and environmental sectors, fostering sustainable development and attracting multinational corporations (MNCs) for years to come.
