Malakoff Embraces the Spirit of Ramadan by Reaching Out to Communities in Segari and Pontian

In the spirit of Ramadan, Malakoff Corporation Berhad ("Malakoff") continued its annual tradition of giving back to the communities where it operates, by hosting Majlis Iftar dan Penyerahan Zakat in Segari, Perak and Pontian, Johor.

 

On 12 March 2025, the event in Segari took place at Masjid Khairul Jariah, Kg Segari, Lumut, where members of the local community gathered for a heartwarming evening of unity and reflection. Among the guests present were YDH Toh Seri Bijaya Lt. Kol. Dato' Shaharuddin B Hj. Nazari, Orang Besar Jajahan Manjung, Tuan Shamsul Ridzuan B Idris, Pegawai Daerah Manjung, Encik Mohd Kopli Yunus, Malakoff's Senior Vice President of Local Generation Division, and Encik Anwar Faisal Mohamed Din, Plant Manager of Lumut Power Plant. During the event, zakat contributions amounting to RM18,000.00 were distributed to 60 asnaf, alongside a donation of RM24,000.00 to support dakwah and religious activities at the mosque, RM6,000.00 in education aid for local students pursuing higher education, and RM3,000.00 for the purchase of a Universal Hip Joint for a patient in need from the village.


Following that, on 17 March 2025, a similar programme was held at Masjid Al Amin, Kg Sg Dinar, in Pontian, Johor. The occasion was graced by Yang Berhormat Dato' Hj Jefridin bin Atan, Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri Kukup, Encik Mohd Kopli Yunus, Encik Mohammad Amiruddin Kamaluddin, Plant Manager of Tanjung Bin Power Plant and Encik Saiful Azlan Mahmud, Plant Manager of Tanjung Bin Energy Power Plnt. Also in attendance were community leaders including Tn Hj Roslan Bin Bokari, Penghulu Kanan Pontian, Tuan Mohammed Ali Ab Wahab, Penghulu Kanan Tanjung Piai, Tuan Nor Hazam Md Jais, Penghulu Mukim Serkat and Encik Azman bin Raof, Pengerusi Masjid Al Amin. Through this initiative, Malakoff contributed a total of RM262,560, which included zakat to 321 asnaf, financial support to 51 students, 321 boxes of food under the 'Kongsi Rezeki Malakoff' programme, as well as donations to Masjid Al Amin, six other mosques and two suraus within the area.


This initiative is part of Malakoff's ongoing CSR efforts and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal ("UN SDG") No. 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, which promotes sustained, inclusive economic growth, productive employment and decent work for all. It also aligns with Malakoff's overarching purpose of 'Enhancing Life, Enriching Communities', reflecting our commitment to creating positive and lasting impact beyond the workplace.
