On 2 January 2025, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport), a member of MMC Group, proudly hosted 40 students from the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), for an educational industrial visit. The initiative aimed to provide students with first-hand exposure to airport development, infrastructure, and operations, complementing their academic curriculum in specialised property and plant and machinery valuation.
Led by their accompanying lecturer, Dr. Kamalahasan Achu, the visit was part of the students’ practical learning activities, focusing on the unique complexities involved in the valuation of airport facilities. The experience allowed them to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications, equipping them with valuable insights for their future careers.
Welcoming the students were Muhammad Aizat, Manager of Terminal Services and Mohd Marwan, Chargeman of Facilities Management Department (FMD). Both shared their expertise in airport management and technical operations, providing in-depth knowledge about the daily functions and long-term development strategies of Senai International Airport.
The visit began with an insightful briefing by Commercial Division representatives, who shared an overview of the company’s profile and milestones. The sharing session was then taken over by Muhammad Aizat, who addressed questions about the airport’s terminal services, passenger flow management, operational efficiency, and the integration of modern technologies. He also highlighted the challenges and innovations in managing a dynamic aviation hub, aligning with the students’ focus on property valuation. Mohd Marwan then provided a technical overview of airport infrastructure, focusing on the maintenance and management of critical electrical systems while Muhammad Izzat and Lukmanul Hakim offered students valuable insights into machinery valuation within the cargo operation at the airport.
Subsequently, the students were taken on a guided tour of the Senai Business Aviation Terminal (SBAT as well as a tour of the Cargo Terminal. This initiative is part of the airport’s commitment to nurturing future talents and fostering academic-industry synergy.
