On 25 March 2025, in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, Ikhtisas Kelautan Malaysia ("IKMAL") held a 'Hari Raya Cookies Package' handover ceremony for seafarers at Wharf 8A, Northport. The event was witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Transport, YB Datuk Haji Hasbi bin Haji Habibollah.
The initiative, organized by IKMAL with support from port and maritime organizations, was a gesture of appreciation for the dedication and commitment of seafarers, especially those who continue serving at sea during the festive season.
Northport's Chief Executive Officer, En. Fakhrul Azhar Tajudin was present to hand over the Hari Raya Cookies Packages to Northport's tugboat and pilot boat crews. Also in attendance were representatives from various maritime organizations and seafarers' associations, including MISC Group, Port Klang Authority ("PKA"), Malaysia Shipowners' Association ("MASA"), T.A.G. Marine Sdn Bhd, Marine Creation Sdn Bhd, Ship Classification Malaysia Sdn Bhd ("SCM"), Satumarin Sdn Bhd, Malaysian Offshore Seafarers ("MOS"), Seafarers Management Centre ("SMC"), Persatuan Jurutera Marin Malaysia ("PJMM") and the National Union of Seafarers Peninsular Malaysia ("NUSPM").
IKMAL, a non-governmental organization ("NGO") established in 1985, is dedicated to advancing Malaysia's maritime industry and supporting the welfare of seafarers. Under the leadership of Captain Abdul Aziz Abdullah, the President of IKMAL, this event marks their eighth year in organizing the programme.
The event highlights Northport's unwavering commitment to recognising the dedication and sacrifices of seafarers, especially during the festive season. As one of the key players in Malaysia's maritime industry, Northport remains dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships with maritime professionals and the seafaring community.
